Breathtaking Ella Gap

Ella is described as one of the most beautiful views as well as breathtaking locations in Sri Lanka. This small town is well known for beautiful views and plenty of trekking expeditions.
Ella is a tiny, authentic rural hill country town, being the biggest gap in Sri Lanka. Ella is more than 1000m deep and nearly 10km long. Ella gap right down treacherous sheer sided downhill highway of walkway, all the way down to Hambantota (274km) of the southern coast.

Waterfalls

Waterfalls are unique creation of nature which exemplifies its true beauty. Enriched with a plethora of natural resources. Sri Lanka boasts approximately three hundred and fifty waterfalls.
In comparison to other countries Sri Lanka is rich in its aquatic resources. Most of the waterfalls in the island have now been identified.
Sri Lanka could be considered as the country having the most number of waterfalls in terms of its geographic extent. The destruction of forests has caused a lowering of the rainfall resulting the drying of natural springs which has become a severe threat to the existence of these waterfalls.

   

Observation train

Traveling by train in Sri Lanka is a unique experience. The railway track stretches across scenic hill country, magically untouched countryside, and secluded beaches of the Indian Ocean. Botanical Garden

Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya is one of the best botanical gardens in Sri Lanka, and one of the most beautiful in Asia. It is located just 6 km from Kandy, the second largest city in Sri Lanka. The botanical gardens is huge & well-organized gardens, It is renowned for the collection the variety of Orchids, and has more than 300 varieties of Orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palms trees attach it is the National Herbarium.

   

Temple of tooth

The Temple of tooth or Sri Dalada Maligawa is a temple in the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka. It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the only surviving relic of Buddha, Temple of tooth, which is venerated by Buddhists. The relic which situated Temple of tooth is played an important role in the local politics since ancient times; it's believed that whoever holds the Temple of tooth relic holds the governance of the country, which caused the ancient kings to protect the Temple of tooth with great effort.

   

Sigiriya

Sigiriya has spectacular importance in Sri Lanka and its geographical location has made it a very safe place for king Kashyapa to build his kingdom there.. An ancient palace complex, erected during the reign of King Kasyapa, has been declared by UNESCO a world heritage site. Sigiriya was basically established in 477AD as a fortress and palace. However, in the 16th and 17th centuries the place served as a monastic refuge.

   

Dambulla Cave temple

One of Sri Lanka's most photographed venues is the famed Cave Temple in Dambulla. Dambulla cave temple comprises of five caves tucked underneath a large overhanging boulder. The caves contain many statues and paintings related to the life of Lord Buddha part from those of gods, goddesses and Sri Lankan kings.

Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century.

   

Elephant Orphanage

Elephants are magnificent land animals, with a thick skin and a curved trunk. Watching these gigantic wild and semi-wild mammals is a lifetime experience.
Sri Lanka is the home to a considerable number of the world’s elephant population. Visitors can enjoy watching wild elephants in wildlife parks such as Yala, Wasgamuwa, Udawalawa, Habarana and Mineriya. But to those who want to see the tamed and semi-wild elephants in close proximity the best place is the “Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage”.

   

Anuradhapura

The sacred city of Anuradhapura, now in picturesque ruins, was once a major center of Sri Lankan civilization. The fascinating ancient ruins include huge bell-shaped stupas built of small sun-dried bricks, temples, sculptures, palaces, and ancient drinking-water reservoirs.

There is probably no mountain anywhere more famous than Sri Pada – Adam’s Peak (7362ft/2250m) for non-mountain reasons than this. It is sacred to three religions; to Buddhists the human-foot-shaped hollow on the pinnacle boulder marks one of the personal appearances of the Buddha .
